Spring 2027 · 4 credit hours · 1 section · 6 open seats as of Oct 30, 2026, 3:16 AM Central

This course introduces operative management in trauma surgery patients. During this course, the learner supports the senior resident managing a team consisting of 2 or more interns, mid-level providers, and rotating medical students. There is appropriate attending backup coverage for any questions or concerns that the learner may have when dealing with patient issues. The staff surgeon remains in-house with the team and responds to any major trauma alert and is present in the trauma bay within 15 minutes of patient arrival as per the hospital guidelines. There is a significant amount of intensive care management during this course. Attending supervision is provided by one of the core trauma/critical care attending faculty on all Trauma Service patients.
